Constance Caraway P.I. ~ Episode 236

…Ace Bannion saw white blobs, the others saw them for what they are…

Across the way, seated in the stands along the 3rd base line at Comiskey Park, Constance, Fanny, Daniels and Ace discuss what the tangible results of this spectacle are.

“Here’s what I think Connie,” injects the man (Daniels) who best understands the role that Pentateuch has played in all this. “If you notice, the bread crumbled away and the wine was turned into water. Penty had poisoned both, and was going to execute everyone with Communion. God did His thing while he prepared that blackout, which by the way, was not just at the park or the city, not even the US, but the world. When we angel2got power back here, so did everyone else on the planet; TV’s and all.”

“What were those 3 white blobs we saw around?” the burning question of this fleeting day.

juggernaut-clipart-pT5bjKxqc

“I don’t think Angels appreciate being called blobs, Ace. God uses them to carry out His bidding on Earth. Now I hardly know them on a first name basis, but I’m pretty sure that MICHAEL was in charge of this one. And from what I’ve seen out at Tolentine, GABRIEL probably zapped Canisso (Vincent Wolfgram), so he was in on this and RAPHAEL may have been here to help some of those people who gobbled Communion down before they were supposed to.”

Ace Bannion saw blobs, the others saw them for what they are.

“See, Ace buddy, it pays to listen to instructions,” Constance never passes up the chance to train her companions. Tragically, several dozen people, mostly those with predisposed physical problems (or it was just their time), died eating Penty’s poisoned portions. “They were told to wait but they figured, ‘it can’t hurt to eat this stuff now’?”

Many of the BGCPGCCR attendees were seekers, new to the rituals of religion.

Chapter Twenty

A FATHER’S LOVE

…Reverend Billy instructs his flock (45,000 on 4/28/1951) on the reverent custom of Holy Communion… but the Devil is as irreverent as ever…

“My friends, Holy Communion is part of God’s covenant with mankind, to share in the body and blood of the resurrected Son of God, Jesus Christ who died for our sins, so that we would enjoy the promise of life everlasting.

“In a few moments, the same men who sold you things to eat and drink will distribute the elements freely among you. There are but two things I ask of you: One, only take the bread and wine if you have already or about to hand your life over to the Lord. And two, please do not partake of either until I have given the word. We will then share in this sacrament together, as did Jesus did with his Apostles the night he was betrayed.”

Reverend Billy instructs his flock (45,000 on 4/28/1951) on the reverent custom of Holy Communion.

Meanwhile“I love the word ‘betrayed’. Judas was such an easy score; buy him off with a sack of silver and he gives up the Divine One’s only human offspring! Born of a virgin mother, please! That is so turn-of-the-millennium!” The one and only Pentateuch, in the clothing of concession supervisor, is listening to the loudspeaker system, ready to administer his other duty, deploying the bread and wine of Communion. He has taken to talking toPhantom_Stranger himself, without an accomplice that will knowingly buy into his deadly plan.

He loves recounting his past successes, “Adam and Eve don’t count. All I did was demonstrate that paradise should not be enough and that they too could be gods. Humans are such flawed creatures.”

He believes it is his job to taunt the very God who created him.

“And what is it with all this fuss about revival? Every 50 of their miserly years or so, some fool bible-thumping fool will get lucky and turn enough heads that it has to be labeled an awakening. Wake up you fools!”

He relishes each new challenge.

But as sure as I exist, their fresh faith in the Father will only last until I can make them forget.”

–Great boss (and all around greasy guy) P. Joseph Winters oversees the staging of Communion, an institution that he only pretends to give a rat’s rooty-tooty about. He has added his own personal touch to the festivities, not necessarily a good thing any of the time.

His anticipatory enthusiasm is difficult to conceal, “Come on cool cats, eat and drink and be closer to your god!”

The Devil is as irreverent as ever.

Libby thoughts-001

…Random ramblings from the principles of Libby Affair…

“Are you saying the landing gear locks were disabled or was there a mechanical failure?” Ace Bannion asks the Civil Aeronautics Board inspector the same question for the second time. They are standing next to the fallen Angel of Blue Ridge.

You were mugged? You have to be crapping me!” Constance has just found out that Worth Moore was beaten on afternoon of the plane crash. She is getting tired of F M’s assault on all things Libby.

“I’m so sorry Worth! I cannot believe that you are a target. That means none of us are safe.” The CCPI 2nd female is genuinely worried about a man for… maybe the first time. She tends to him like a Florence, not a Fanny.

Did you hear about that crash out at Midway Airport? It was Rev Graham’s plane and Ace Bannion was the pilot.” Eddie Dombroski speaks to wife Edie from a place of sympathy. Even as he is on the mend, he still feels like a member of the team.

“I am 90 percent sure that Forever Mastadon is fronted by the Department of Justice. The FBI is up to their neck at 5046 and way in over their heads when it comes to knowing what this whole battle is about.” Agent Daniels is up front with his assessment of the Libby Affair.

“Half of my staff are either bandaged or in splints. Do you want me to carry on with the Chicago Stadium alter call?” Reverend Billy Graham is speaking to his Lord, a habit that he will never lose and an example of living his faith.

“What do I have to do to put an end to these people? The Divine One is set against the Great Deception.” Pentateuch would be talking to L. Dick Cannon directly, had he been up front with the man and told him who he really was. Instead Cannon slithers away to his true delusional followers.

“Maybe we should abandon Project Forever Mastadon. Would it be the end of the world if “they” find out that humankind has only been around for 20 thousand years?” Gilbert Conroy, the science dork, asks the Deputy Attorney General Ross.

“My fellow Americans, I speak to you as a believer, a believer in the grace of Jesus Christ, not as your President,” President Harry Truman is making good on his promise that he would use his weekly radio address to urge his fellow Americans to affirm their faith in God.

”Is a scientific breakthrough worth all the trouble it has caused?” Willard Libby wonders.

Not-so-random orders from the top…

“Gabriel.”

“I am here Lord.”

“It is time.”

“I understand.”

Highway to Hell – WIF Myth & Legend

I-4 Dead Zone:

America’s Most

Haunted Highway

The Interstate 4 highway stretches over 132 miles through Florida, and is frequented daily by those on their way to work or visit friends, and certainly it’s a travel hub for those vacationing in the Sunshine State, perhaps on their way to Disney World.

While the I-4 is a very well-traveled highway, there’s one spot nicknamed the “Dead Zone” where people need to be especially careful. This quarter-mile stretch of the highway has been the location for many car accidents, electronic malfunctions, and even ghost sightings.

Why is this seemingly cursed spot on the highway so dangerous for drivers? Perhaps it’s because it was built over graves, and a disturbed grave site is the perfect recipe for strange things to happen. Or maybe it’s just a coincidence that so many people have crashed their vehicles there, although it’s a pretty frightening coincidence. The graves are under one of the eastbound lanes of the I-4, before you get to the south end of the St. Johns River Bridge, but we’ll let you decide whether it’s just a coincidence… or if there’s a more sinister aspect to the stories. Let’s take a look at the strange and eerie part of the Interstate 4 highway known as the Dead Zone…

The Dead Zone

Around the halfway point between Daytona and Orlando is a very dangerous spot for drivers. The Interstate 4 highway passes over the St. Johns River in Seminole County, and at the south end of the interstate bridge is a quarter-mile section known as the “Dead Zone.”

The Dead Zone is known for the exceptionally high amount of accidents that have happened there. Oddly enough, on the first day that the new Interstate 4 was opened, a tractor-trailer carrying frozen shrimp suddenly lost control and jackknifed directly above the disturbed graves of immigrants who had died from yellow fever.

While there isn’t an exact number, it is believed that anywhere from 1,500 to over 2,000 accidents have happened there since the opening of the highway in 1963. Unfortunately, many of those accidents resulted with death. In fact, around 440 accidents happened at that location between the 1999 and 2006. And in just a 24-month period between 1995 and 1997, there were a staggering 44 car accidents that resulted in 65 people being injured.

Many of the locals will not drive on the Dead Zone of the I-4, and instead take a much longer and more roundabout way to get to their destination.

The History Of The Location

In the years before the 1880s, the location was nothing but wilderness with a sand road that ended up at an area that was equipped with a hand-operated river ferry. Then in 1886, a railroad station was built and there was an attempt to begin a Roman Catholic colony named St. Joseph’s Colony. The owner of the land, Henry Sanford, thought that he could get some German immigrants to fill the colony. But after just four immigrant families moved there, Sanford’s efforts to establish a thriving Catholic colony ended.

One year later, there was an outbreak of yellow fever that claimed the lives of one immigrant family. There was so much fear that others would contract the fever that the four bodies were taken into the woods and burned. The priest who was also living in the colony had to go to Tampa to minister to yellow fever victims there, but unfortunately three days after arriving he also passed away from the fever. With the priest dead, there wasn’t anyone who could perform the last rites to the family of four who had passed away and they were buried without any ceremony.

By 1890, the colony had developed into a rural town named Lake Monroe. When a man named D.V. Warren bought the land north of the railroad, he cleared the area so he could do some farming, but he left the cemetery untouched. The graves looked like an island in the middle of the cultivated farmland and, over time, the names on the four wooden markers were erased by nature. Warren sold his land to Albert S. Hawkins in 1905.

Hawkins had leased his land to other farmers but he always asked them not to touch or mess with the burial site. However, one farmer ignored the warning and attempted to remove the wire fence that was around the graves. His house mysteriously burned down that exact day.

Hawkins had a home that was located at the edge of the field, and one day it burned down when he tried removing the rotting wooden markers for the graves. Since his wife was convinced that the fire was because of his tampering with the gravesite, Hawkins immediately replaced the markers.

However, after the Hawkins’ new house was built, they began experiencing strange things in their new home, especially with the children’s toys. A small rocking chair would begin rocking all by itself, and several toys would move on their own. Even his neighbors told him that they had seen strange lights around the gravesite at night. Perhaps this is why many of the locals nicknamed the area the “Field of the Dead.”

Another chilling event happened in the early 1950s when a young boy was disturbing the graves, and the following night he was killed by a drunk driver. The driver was never identified or caught.

Hurricanes And The I-4

The government bought the property in 1959 for the purpose of building Interstate 4. The four graves were supposed to be relocated to another area, but never were. The surveyors of the land decided that the graves were very old and “felt it was best, as well as beneficial to construction and time issues to ignore the graves and build over them.” One of the engineers was even quoted saying, “It’s not an ancient Indian burial ground, they’re just a few old bones.” Their choice not to relocate the graves would be one of the worst decisions they could ever make.

In September 1960, dirt was poured on top of the graves in order to raise up the highway. At the same time that the fill-dirt was being poured on the graves, a powerful storm named Hurricane Donna was hammering the southern region of Florida. The hurricane was on its way to the Gulf of Mexico but suddenly and unexpectedly changed course toward the exact location where the new interstate was being built. In fact, the eye of the hurricane passed directly over the gravesite at exactly midnight on the night of September 10, 1960. The damage from the storm delayed the construction of the highway for almost a month.

Then in 2004, another major storm named Hurricane Charley took almost the exact same route Hurricane Donna had. Hurricane Charley passed directly over the graves of the four deceased immigrants, and what’s even more eerie is that there was construction happening around the graves right before the hurricane passed over. It seemed as though something – or someone – didn’t want anyone disturbing the resting place of the four deceased immigrants. Researcher and author Charlie Carlson wrote a book called Strange Florida, and has talked about the hurricanes:

“Charley followed almost the same route as Donna. They referred to Charley as the ‘I-4 Hurricane.’ Strangely enough, there was construction going on around the graves. The land where the graves are was being disturbed again. It was almost like a repeat of Donna.”

There have also been a high number of tornadoes that have ripped through the area, following the route of the Interstate 4.

An Eerie Coincidence

It’s definitely a strange coincidence that two hurricanes seemingly made sure that they hit the exact location where the graves were being disturbed by construction, as well as the many tornadoes that have traveled up Interstate 4, as if there was some sort of force or magnet attracting them to the location. But there is another coincidence that is absolutely bone-chilling and deeply disturbing.

At the beginning of this article, we mentioned that there were 44 car crashes that ended up injuring a total of 65 people between 1995 and 1997. If you take a moment to do the math, when you add up 44 and 65 you get a total of 109. In 1996, it had been exactly 109 years since the four members of the immigrant family died in 1887. Now that’s an incredibly eerie coincidence.

Paranormal Experiences

In addition to the countless car crashes, deadly tornadoes, and strong hurricanes, Interstate 4 is also known as the most haunted highway in America, especially in the quarter-mile Dead Zone.

There have been many strange occurrences and paranormal activity associated with the highway. One common claim is that cell phones, radios, and CBs stop working when people drive through the Dead Zone. Others have claimed to have heard static or the sound of children laughing coming from their electronics. They have also heard disembodied voices, such as a person asking “Who’s there?” or the simple question of “Why?” But when drivers respond through their devices, there is nobody on the other end to answer. Some people have even claimed to have heard the sounds of snarling or growling coming from their radios. What’s even more frightening is the fact that there are no cell phone or radio antennas in that area, so the strange sounds coming from electronic devices are a real mystery.

Some people have reported seeing ghost cars, shadow people, and ghostly apparitions of hitchhikers, as well as suddenly driving into thick fog that appears out of nowhere, and even feeling cold spots. Some have also witnessed unexplained balls of light that zig-zag above the road. Others have claimed to have seen the ghostly apparition of a young woman in a flowing white dress or nightgown. An even more disturbing allegation is that some drivers have claimed that an unseen force had taken over control of their vehicles.

While state officials have blamed the exceptionally high amount of car accidents on congested traffic conditions, many people believe that the crashes are caused by restless spirits that are looking for revenge after their graves were disturbed.

There’s no doubt that there have been an unusually high number of car accidents on the I-4, and there are a lot of claims coming from people who have experienced strange and unexplained things in that area. Add in the fact that the Dead Zone is resting on top of four graves, and… well, it’s no surprise that this is the most haunted highway in America.

Constance Caraway P.I. ~ Episode 140

…Most anything can happen at a Top Secret facility and the fire chief is reminded of that. “I absolutely hate killing myself…

“My Penty?” Daniels is guilty by association. From out of a handy dandy tool belt he pulls out a powerful penlight to guide their way. “What is this place?”

Waterfall Glen

“It must be an interconnecting tunnel system. I bet it leads to a bomb shelter.”

“I guess you never know when the Soviets are going to launch a missile at a prime target.”

“Exactly. Hey, if we head this way I think we can make Waterfall Glen,” Martin beckons Daniels toward the rugged terrain beyond the Atom-smasher perimeter. After making a straight southerly line, they come to a steel door with a sign warning: “Beware of Wild Animals”. “I’ll take my chances with the carnivores; you can keep your Devil!”

The sign did not warn them that the other side of the door had a cliff-side exposure; the gully below is easily two hundred feet down. “I think we better go up,” Daniels suggests.

“Up is good.”

They scale to the top of the ridge and follow the plume of smoke and flashing lights roundabout Building Four. Kamen knows the Laboratory firefighters pretty much by name and tells the Chief what he could about the fire. He leaves Satan off of the suspect list, instead blaming it on a Bunsen-burner.

“A Bunsen-burner, isn’t that a little stereotypical?”

“Well, neither of us smokes and there wasn’t a toaster oven in there so, you bet your beaker it was an experiment gone badly.”

Back inside the charred office, Martin heads to the fireproof file cabinet. The top compartment is missing the Carbon Dating file, meaning the fire was a worthwhile consequence.

“Would you please report that there was at least one fatality in the fire…? Director Zinn will sign off on that; no names just unrecognizable bodies.” Most anything can happen at a Top Secret facility, don’t you know and the fire chief is reminded of that. “I absolutely hate killing myself.

“That means we need to get you back to the University safe house, so Penty has to look hard to find me. I think I can stay dead for 24 hours.”

“Just ask Willard; pretend dead is much more fun than the real thing.” There is a lot of that going around lately.

…Constance thinks she has made a breakthrough, when in fact, she is one conclusion behind…

“When I opened the door something smelled like it was burning, but there was no smoke and Simpson’s head was face down at his desk, blood trickling out of both ears.

“By then his secretary had come back to her desk and she saw me with blood on my hands, I had checked his neck for a pulse,” claims Agent Daniels.

“And she assumed that it was you who killed the man?” Ace guesses, getting into the investigative spirit.

“She told me that no one had been in his office since the morning startup meeting 2 hours earlier, that I was the only other meeting he had scheduled.

“I tried to explain that I found him that way, but she called down to the switchboard to send for security. I ran from the room, knowing that CIA people are not welcome in local jurisdictions and any excuse I would give them might not be well received. I ran out of the building and came here.”

Connie looked at Ace who had no opinion, “You said that the room smelled like something was burning?”

“Yes.”

“Did it smell like smoldering embers or singed flesh?”

“Yes, I have been at fires where people had 2nd and 3rd degree burns… a sense that you can’t forget.”

“In all your dealings with that Agnostica guy, did you ever meet him outside his safe-room?”

“Safe room?” Ace inquires.

“The room where that is so cold that water begins to ice over,” Connie answers Ace.

one step behind“No, I always came to him in one of those places.” Daniels answers Connie.

“I think we have a way of detecting that guy,” Constance thinks she has made a breakthrough, when in fact, she is one conclusion behind.

For the record, he sets her straight, “Miss Caraway, that “guy” as you refer to him, is not human.”

Ace is quick to jump in, “So you’re telling us that this “thing” is the Devil?”

“Yep,” Daniels goes on, “the fallen favored Angel of God himself. Look at the trail of dead bodies in his path:

  1. The Pope’s brother hangs himself, coincidence…?
  2. Miss Caraway has to kill two of FM’s goons after Dombroski’s wife is taken…
  3. Canisso, his lieutenant before me, struck by a lightning bolt sent from the Heavens. I saw it with my own eyes…
  4. Bartholomew Simpson is about to change what children are being taught about evolution in the schools, a huge revelation and he is being taken away by the Cook County Coroner as we speak…

…do I need to convince you further?”

…The funeral ruse, albeit necessary, is a cruel charade  especially for the hundreds of folks that have come to Chicago to pay their respects for Willard Libby…

Libby Funeral

So sad is his grieving Aunt Sister Mary Joseph Franks that she volunteers Tolentine as the location of his memorial service. She and Martin Kamen are the lone attendees that have the real skinny on Libby’s “passing” and his true fate. The ruse, albeit necessary, is a cruel charade  especially for the hundreds of folks that have come to Chicago to pay their respects, but in the grand scheme of things, they have no other choice.

  • Enrico Fermi: “He was a great scientific visionary and a brave supporter of the “nuclear age”…”
  • Billy Graham: “Willard Libby took the time to fully consider all aspects of his research, even those of God…”
  • Bernard Spencer (Daniels): “Pope Pius the Twelve extends his Holy blessing to a wholly innocent soul…”
  • Robert Maynard Hutchins: “As President of the University of Chicago, I express our profound sadness with the passing of a treasured educator…”
  • Walter Zinn (Director Argonne): “When the danger of nuclear research became critical, Willard Libby was the rock of the “Metallurgical Lab”…”
  • Vice-president Alben Barley: “President Truman mourns the loss of such a young, up and coming asset to the United States of America…”
  • Martin Kamen (crocodile tears): “He is my closest colleague and dearest friend. I will never look through my microscope the same way again…”
  • Mary Joseph (not tears – holy water): “I will miss my weekly tea with Will. He would talk about things, of which I had no clue, but we are family and I will see you soon in the Great Beyond…”

Sister Mary had pointed skyward implying a heavenly reunion… but she knows better.

Martin Kamen cleverly uses the present tense when referring to his friend… not a coincidence.

Libby Funeral-001

Pentateuch (has yet to shed a tear – ever): “He was a foolish man who dared to challenge the “Great Deception”…”

Pentateuch claims victory… but he is jumping the gun and is losing focus.
