THE RETURN TRIP – Episode 157

…“And please keep my Father and Mother alive in time to be rescued, Amen.” Deke McKinney speaks to God from his heart…

A sleeping giant has awoken. The righteous of the world have spoken.

Global missile defenses all over the world are at the highest possible alert. Every fleet, every army, all radars are at the ready. There are mandatory commercial air travel ground stops. The planet is taking a deep breath, in hopes that the SALT IV Nuclear Treaty will hold, especially for arsenals not in the control of responsible leaders–

–Such is the risk that was taken by the leader of the free world:

“My fellow Americans: Today I come before you to announce a global response to certain aggressions perpetrated without our knowledge and against our long-term interests…Image result for my fellow americans

“To this end, the Congress of these United States and the greater Space Colony Global Coalition has supported the necessary actions to seek out and destroy facilities of known enemies of mischief. The United Korean Peninsula is currently enduring the wrath of our Coalition, as is Talibanistan, who has conspired to attempt to deny the greater world from conquering space…

“The destruction of Space Colony 1 has been positively linked to both nations and their propensity to independently cause trouble, whether here on Earth or in space, has been cut away from them in a swift and humane manner.”

— Watching President Sanchez’ address to the world is Aldona Afridi Fletcher Fitch and his family, “Praise to the God of Israel, He has used His mighty hand to defeat His enemies, Amen.” —

— Huddled close in front of the fireplace, watching the Presidential announcement on the mantle television {and ten quick steps from the King Ranch bomb shelter}, are five people who know the meaning of holding those close to you near. The preceding events that cement their resolve are overshadowed by those which directly affect the security of the entire planet.

Braden King, the ranch patriarch speaks, “Dear Lord, we thank you for your bountiful goodness, we praise you for the wonders of the Universe you created, and we pray for your blanket of protection, for us and your faithful around the world.” The mood is solemn, heads are bowed.

“And please keep my Father and Mother alive in time to be rescued, Amen.” Deke speaks to God from his heart.

The Many

Marvelous Mysteries

of Water

Water is, by far, the most abundant natural resource on Earth, as around 72% of the planet’s surface is covered with it. It’s also the driving factor behind the origins of life, as we do not yet know of a life form that’s not water-based. The same cannot be said for anything else. We know of organisms that don’t require light, oxygen, warmth, or even the Earth’s atmosphere to survive – as many microbes can stay alive in space, too – though every one of them absolutely requires water to function.

Humans and animals alike love to frolic in it, when it’s warm enough.

While the reasons for all that may be obvious to most – it makes sense that life evolved around the most abundant resource in the environment – it doesn’t have anything to do with the Earth or the environment at all. Water is – in itself – one of the weirdest substances to ever exist, with mysterious properties that aren’t just unheard of on Earth, but anywhere in the universe. Right from its highly-debated structure to the baffling Mpemba effect, it’s exactly these unexplained properties that give water its unique position as the single biggest factor behind all life we know of today, and why finding life based on any other substance anywhere else in the universe is more unlikely than we think.

8. Water’s Inexplicably-High Surface Tension

One of water’s most unique – and mind-boggling – properties is its surface tension. While nothing unusual in itself, as every liquid has some surface pull that keeps its molecules together in that state, water’s surface tension is much higher than any other liquid we know of. This unique property has some far-reaching consequences for the evolution of life on Earth. For an example, it’s how blood – over 80% of which is made up of water – can overcome the force of gravity and circulate around the body.

As for why this is, you guessed it: we’re not sure. Scientists previously believed that it’s because of the uniquely strong hydrogen bonds found in the water molecules, though if a recent study is to be believed, that’s not the case, and water is actually even weirder than that. Apparently, its surface tension isn’t even static, and could change according to how water is feeling that day.

As the study found, it’s the stickiest just when its surface is formed – like the exact time a water droplet falls down. Surprisingly, it takes unusually long for it to come down to its original value, too, something the researchers didn’t understand. What they did clear up, however, is that it has nothing to do with the hydrogen bonds, or anything else we know of.

7. We Don’t Know Why Water Expands On Cooling, Or Vice Versa

That things expand when they’re heated up and shrink in size on cooling is one of the fundamental rules of nature. We can see it in play all around us, and a lot of our infrastructure takes this rule into account. Almost every building has expansion joints, allowing it to breathe in or out depending on the season. Rules, however, do not apply to water, as it remains the only known substance that expands on cooling and vice versa, and we still don’t know why.

It’s not even difficult to verify this. Just take some ice in a container, note its general volume and wait for it to warm up and liquify. It would always take up less space than its solid form, which also happens to be one of water’s weirdest properties. Science has been trying to answer it for a while, though the potential answers – much like everything else about water – make the whole thing even more mysterious.

According to recent research, there is a perfectly good explanation for this unique property: liquid water doesn’t really expand when it’s cooled, but actually oscillates between two distinct states of liquid matter. If you cool it down below 0 degrees Celsius, it may seem to be expanding, but if you lower it even further, you’d start to notice that it’s contracting, too. Keep taking it closer to its freezing point – which is around -60 Celsius for pure water – and at one point it would seem to be expanding and contracting with almost the same frequency.

While that does seem to explain exactly how and what happens to water when it’s cooled – in the way that it clarifies that the real process is even weirder than we imagined – it still doesn’t touch on the ‘why’. It may have to do with the inherently weird structure of water molecules and how they interact with each other, but then it’s not like we’re sure about how that works, either.

6. No One Can Agree On Its Structure

Most of us would probably not believe it, but water – perhaps the most studied natural material in history – incites some pretty strong opinions in the scientific community, for the simple reason that there’s still a lot of debate around how exactly it’s structured. A lot of its weird properties could be explained if we just knew how the hydrogen and oxygen bonds in water interact with each other. Surprisingly, though, even with our modern research techniques, we still have no idea.

While traditional wisdom previously suggested that despite its weirdness, the structure of water is still a natural tetrahedron, one recent study found that the shape is actually a more loosely bonded collection of closed rings and chains, which is actually what gives water its weird properties. It’s still not a widely accepted opinion yet, though, as other researchers say that the results aren’t due to looser bonding at all, but because of the water molecule’s ability to rearrange itself in entirely new shapes. Whatever may be the case, it’d be a while before we could even understand the structure of water, let alone the plethora of its other mysteries.

5. The Mpemba Effect

While there’s no doubt that water possesses many abilities that may as well be magic to the scientists studying them, a lot of them have been recent realizations. It’s only thanks to recent experiments that we’ve come to understand the full extent of water’s weirdness, as for the majority of history, it was the simplest substance we know of. One of its properties, however, has baffled keen thinkers and amateur scientists alike for centuries – possibly even millenia. Water, contrary to all common logic, freezes at a faster rate when it’s hot. Again, it’s unlike anything else we know of, and has been verifiably observed since at least the ancient Greek times.

Also known as the Mpemba Effect, after an African physics student who wrote the first peer-reviewed paper describing the phenomenon, it’s by far the most enduring of water’s mysteries. Many experiments have confirmed it throughout the years, though we’re still no closer to figuring out why it happens.

4. The Mystery Of The Cambrian Explosion

Our understanding of the evolution of life on Earth is pretty linear; that simple, single-celled organisms gradually gave way to more complex animals, leading up to all the diversity of life we see around us today. However, that is not the case at all. Complex life is a rather recent, and likely accidental, development. For an overwhelming period of our history – about 2.5 billion years – life existed as simple, largely immobile creatures, most of whom didn’t even need oxygen to survive. It may as well have been an alien landscape altogether, filled with animals (if we can even call them that) that have little to no resemblance to the mostly water and oxygen-based life forms of today.

Then about 540 million years ago, the variety and complexity of life suddenly exploded in the oceans, and to this day we have no idea what triggered it. The Cambrian Explosion, as it’s called, was the single most important event in our pre-evolutionary history, as well as the oldest mystery of the oceans. Some researchers think that it was triggered by the rise of oxygen levels in the atmosphere, or the accidental evolution of vision, or something else really. They’re not sure, but almost all of them agree that the importance of the Cambrian Explosion cannot be overstated. It was the beginning of complex life as we know it, and gave way to almost every life form in the world today, from the simplest of microbes to the entirety of human civilization, and everything in between.

In the end, it could be a God-thing.

3. Where Did All Of Earth’s Water Even Come From?

As we’ve well established by now, there would have been no life on Earth without water. Thanks to its unique and weird properties, water may just be the answer to ‘why us?’, as almost no other substance found in nature behaves like it. Moreover, it’s also rather convenient to have the one substance required to kickstart life to even show up on Earth, completing the unique set of highly-improbable factors that eventually gave birth to life. It begs the question; where did all the water on Earth even come from?

If that sounds like a simple question to answer by something obvious like ‘clouds, duh’ or ‘trees, or something’, it’s really not. As it happens, we still don’t know exactly what brought water to Earth in the first place. Some claim that it came on the back of a comet in the form of ice, though given how the Earth didn’t have an atmosphere around that time, all of that water would have evaporated into the open universe. Another theory says that hot vapors escaping from cracks in the Earth’s surface gave way to the first clouds, setting the cycle of evaporation, cloud formation and rains in motion for the first time. Though again, it’s still just a theory.

2. Water Shouldn’t Even Be A Liquid

If you take a look at the elements that make up water on the periodic table – provided you know how to read the periodic table – you’ll notice something peculiar. They exist right next to gases like hydrogen sulphide and hydrogen selenide; ‘gases’ being the key word. If water were to behave like other chemicals with similar properties, it would not be a liquid at all, especially at Earth temperatures. Water is supposed to freeze somewhere around -100 Celsius and evaporate at around -80 Celsius, as is the case with other gases of its family.

As it’s clear by now, water doesn’t adhere to expectations, which is why it’s the only substance we know of that can exist in all the three states at temperatures hospitable for human life. It can stay liquid at a surprisingly low temperature, too, provided that it’s free of any impurities.

1. The Weird Properties Of Water Make Life On Earth Possible

Reading through the absolutely rebellious chemical nature of water may give you the impression that it’s abnormal. After all, these properties are not found in any natural substance, and we even have a hard time replicating them in the lab if we want to. That’s pretty accurate, though these mysterious properties don’t make water alien. In fact, they explain why water has fit in so well with the life-giving ecosystem of the planet, and is perhaps the most Earthly thing there is.

If water didn’t have a higher surface tension than other liquids, it would be impossible for it to stick to and circulate among plant roots. Its ability to expand when frozen allowed water bodies during ancient ice ages to freeze from top down, allowing life below the surface – which was all life at one point – to survive and adapt for when it was over. If it adhered to laws of liquids, water would start turning into ice from the bottom, ensuring that any signs of primitive life died down long before they could adapt and evolve.

Alpha Omega M.D. – Episode #317

…The fact that A.O. was not considering his dealings with Audrie Franich as an abortion has distracted him…

atari-pitfall-001

As young Audrie Franich is taken to the second floor room, where numerous hand-sized lives have been taken, without having had the chance to fulfill God’s intended purpose. This beleaguered doctor, assailed by both needs and the needy, has forever wrestled with the moral aspect of this one small corner of his business. Just what does his Maker and God, looking down from above, see? Is He sorely disappointed with the man, born Alfrey Campbell, or does He gaze with compassion and grace? A devout servant and worshiper has a single soiled corner in an otherwise spotless house.

Alpha Campbell, the doctor, speaks with a new desk nurse named Edwina Stephens. “When I’m done packin’ the girl, make sure that Miss Franich comes back for two more days of packin’ of the uterus. It’s a damn shame I can’t keep her here. What would be the harm in it?”

“Yes, sir, Dr. Campbell, three days,” Edwina is new and nervous. So new, that she is making the worst possible of innocent mistakes. One of her duties is the appointment book. She was not around in 1954. Had she been, the woman she has replaced, Lettie Golden, would be having a coronary, as would Attorney Sinclair Clavitt. Back then, there were but a scant 15 minutes between that appointment book and infamy.

The fact that A.O. was not considering his dealings with Audrie Franich as an abortion has distracted him. More lessons not learned.

“I want to be there with my baby!” mother Mary cries out.

“This needs to be a complete sterile area, Mrs. Gray. Please wait in the hall.” Head nurse, Lillie Chevis, is a skilled doctor’s right hand. She has been with Dr. Campbell since he opened his hospital in 1947. She had left Florida A&M Hospital because she shared A.O.’s vision. But only her height exceeds her employer, nursing skills notwithstanding.Image result for sterile

“Thank you Lillie...

A.O. has been packing her cervix with sterile gauze, when after two or three more times the uterus would reject the dead fetus.

It is important that she does not miss a packing, lest infection set in. It is a gradual process, but a known way of encouraging the womb to empty itself. No need for invasive surgery.

Image result for concord florida“We will repeat this packin’ until you go into labor. Then you come a callin’ in a big hurry and we will be done.”

For young Audrie it is a tedious process, traveling back and forth from her Daddy’s house at Concord, Florida is not her idea of solving her problem. Concord is no more than a speck in the Panhandle; map makers have ignored it with unsettling regularity. Daniel Boone would have had a difficult time finding it, with directions, a compass and a local Seminole Indian companion.

“Yes, Doc Campbell, I just want this whole thing over.”

“We all are sinners, every one of us, headed for eternal damnation in the furnaces of hell. We are lost souls, with little hope of changing ourselves,” is Ezra Elijah’s recurring theme.

“Hallelujah, Brother!”

“Praise God Almighty!”

These are words from those who already know.

redeemed      “But there is good news, brothers and sisters!” He throws his head back, long gray hair flying, looking up and pointing to the cloudless sky. “Jesus Christ has already died for our sins and he is reigning in heaven, waiting to take his followers up with him. All YOU and YOU and YOU have to do,” he points, “is believe on him and his blessed resurrection and you too can look forward to eternal life.”

John Ferrell is one of the people he looks in the eye. Does he know my sins? He was speaking right at me.

“You can be a thief, a murderer. Perhaps you have violated your sacred vows of marriage or fathered a child with another woman. There is no use hiding from God. He already knows.”

It is 90 degrees, but John’s sweat is of the cold variety.

“If you do not have a personal relationship with God, I invite you to come forward and receive glory!”

Up until this point, Ferrell had been standing inconspicuously in the back, with no intent on being seen. Seemingly without his will, he makes his way forward. The experience is surreal, almost like he is watching himself from above. He does not stop until he is kneeling right in front, at the feet of a man that would have scared him to death prior to this life-changing day.

He is recognized by many of the gathering, but no matter, John Ferrell has taken that giant step to salvation.

…“Great minds think alike!” insists  Harv Pearson…

“I would like to throw a goodly sum into your initial investment. I hope I am not too bold, folks, but we all know that the more cash you have in the beginning, the greater the chances are for real success.” Herb Love knows business.

Pearson-Eastman, Eastman-Pearson nod to each other.

“It looks that we will have a built-in board of directors, Herbert. You have got to know that Judith’s brother, George is in for one-third… make that one-fourth, but that is where it will stop, too many cooks in the kitchen, you know.” Harv thinks logical boundaries are prudent.

“Capital idea! Excuse the play on words, but I did not know what your reaction would be to my proposal.”

“Eastman/Pearson/Eastman/Love. Sounds like the partner list at Beacon Hill.” It may not be U.S. Steel, but Harv recites an impressive roster in its own right.

“And you finally have the order right… Eastman-Pearson, what do you think Mister Love?” Judith will not let up.

“I will be the silent partner,” he promises, “but I hesitate to say that the opposite is more melodic; consonant first, vowel second.”

“All men think alike!” Judith is thwarted.

“Great minds think alike!” insists Pearson.

“Thinking men like women with great minds! The best of both worlds,” states Herbert Love, master of Washington diplomacy.

“You, Mister Love, will be the perfect foil for me. I look forward to our association and thank you for your confidence in our magazine.” Her appreciation is real.

“That goes for me as well, Herb. To tell you the truth, I hadn’t given you a thought and I could kick myself for not doing so earlier; it would have saved us hours of soul searching.”

The Florida-end of this 1000 mile connection concludes from his heart, “Speaking of soul, remember that as children of God we must keep Him at the center of our earthly tasks. If God is in it, how can we fail?”

Enough said.

…Daniels can sense the presence of a watchful eye, like when you know someone is lurking in the bushes, with bad intent…

“So my old friend Cephus has returned to the scene of the crime,” Pentateuch entertains himself by tracking all of his associates, like a pointy-eared Peeping Tom. In his native form, like other devilish doers, he is unattractive to the human eye, hence the many seductive shapes he assumes, save the asp of the GOE days.

GOE

He knows a person’s weak spots and he will grab hold of it. In the case of L. Dick Cannon, the visage of a corporate type fills the bill. For Canisso and Cephus, he is very lordly like.

His newest mission is to steal away with whatever Cephus/Daniels is there for. Once he has established his presence within Argonne, no need of security clearance, he confirms what notion he had imagined, Martin Kamen there with designs of succeeding Libby. In his reality, Pentateuch believes he is going to pull off another of his covert coups, now without access to Daniels’ deepest thoughts.

conspiracy

“Let’s go over to Building Three to catch some lunch,” Martin serves as tour guide at the University of Chicago extension and Department of Defense weapons lab. And though Kamen doesn’t seek to annihilate millions by nuclear means, he has inherited Willard Libby’s office and reputation.

“Did you leave the papers where they can be easily taken?” Daniels can sense the presence of a watchful eye, like when you know someone is lurking in the bushes, with bad intent.

“There in a file cabinet, in a top drawer and labeled “Carbon-14”. Do you think Penty will get it?”

“We may want him to be an unwitting fool, but he is no moron.”

“Can he hear what we are saying?” asks Martin self-consciously.

“No. He would have to uncloak in order to listen in and if you don’t smell burnt flesh, you know he’s not physically present. He will know that I have left the room.”

…Bartholomew Simpson has had a shaky, if not inexplicable role in the perpetuation of The Great Deception…

Anger is a wasted emotion in the Angelic Realm, even though God has every right to be.

As a result, there is no reason for us to get mad when God is not on our side. It is fruitless.

God does not support Pentateuch, who has the Earth as his playground and is completely on his own… and prone to anger… especially when he loses.

He also has his “ways” to keep track of things that interest him. And even though Cephus has quit communicating with him, he has not quit spying on Cephus’ whereabouts.

Forever Mastadon has not gone away. Its stealth tendrils are firmly entrenched wherever they are needed. One such secret stem has spotted Cephus/Daniels back in the Chicago, making a visit to the offices of McGraw-Hill, where FM has a foothold, in the person of the Head of Content.

Daniels/James, now that he has shed his other disguise shells, remains on the case which Willard Libby has started. He is curious as to why the publisher was so interested in the subject of carbon dating, so much so that they were in talks with him in the days leading up to Libby’s abduction.

On the Fence

McGraw-Hill Publishers

Bartholomew Simpson has had a shaky, if not inexplicable role in the perpetuation of The Great Deception. He has heard about new, solid evidence that the “age of humans” is due for a huge correction and because new textbooks are in the process of content editing, the publisher needs to be the first to know the 5 W’s, not the last.

Pentateuch has been using subliminal suggestion as a management tool in the recesses of Simpson’s malleable mind. Up until recently, the issue of Evolution vs. Creation was foursquare in the “amino acid to upright hominid” corner. But there is an invisible fence bordering this suddenly open field and B. Simpson is now straddling that fence.

 With awakening comes awareness.

  •  Libby is ready to spill the Carbon-14 Recipe Beans.
  • Daniels has covert plans for Mr. Bartholomew Simpson.
  • CCPI Chi-town subtracts one member, adds another.
  • Dick Cannon seeks movie stars to shill for his “church”.
  • Pentateuch is disappointed with his Earthly accomplices.

From the enlightening saga of Willard Libby down to the evil machinations of the lord of Hades and everyone in between, the time has come to maneuver.

…First comes the bright flash – then a loud crack and explosive boom…

Off in the distance he can hear and feel a low rumbling, like a passing locomotive or … thunder… in winter, can it be?

He knows that he is supposed to lure Sister Mary from the Holy shield of the Tolentine multi-level interconnected roofs, so he suggests, “It’s such a pleasant day, can we catch a bit of fresh air?”

“Why certainly, Mr. Spencer, you lead the way.”

He strolls out from under the entrance overhang and close to a courtyard filled with statues, crosses and stone tablets. “Let’s go down the drive and back,” he passes the car that brought him here. It is empty. He keeps an eye out for any excuse to make the planned nun-elimination go away.

Dark clouds have been forming on the quarter mile walk down to the street, they are ominous and rolling. The warmish winds are freshening to a formidable gale, blowing Daniel’s fedora out into a nearby open slushy snow-laden field. Running out to fetch it, he catches a glimpse of a figure poised behind an arching arborvitae.

They pass by the shrubbery without incident, but Daniels still weaves forth and back, like a drunken pedestrian, to make a clear sightline difficult in expectation of a coming gunshot.

lightning“Are you all right Mr. Spencer?” if she only knew.

Instead of the bang of a gun, the blackened sky opens up to expose a white gaping hole, with a bolt of lightning streaking down from it. First comes the bright flash, and then because of the close proximity, a simultaneously loud crack and explosive boom follows, chards of soil falling back to the ground.

Both the nun and the spy cower in reaction to it. The entire event is over just as quickly and as they look up in the sky, the visage of an angel ascends through the white hole into the heavens, taking the storminess with.

Every hair on their bodies is electrified, standing straight out. Sister Mary is kneeling with arms wide open in praise, Daniels is trying to digest what he just saw. There is a smoking crater where Canisso was lurking and the smell of charred flesh.

“Let’s get back inside, quick,” he urges, not wanting a repeat of what had just happened. Mary Joseph rises from her knees hardly believing that she had seen an Angel from Heaven.

“It is done Lord,” Gabriel reports.

“I am pleased Gabriel.”

… If Lorgan is the physical embodiment of the God we worship, then that image of a grandfatherly-like deity with a white beard is totally out-the-window..

God Resting On 7th Day by Granger

Francine Bouchette-Crippen has been summoned several times to Harmonia. Each time, the issue concerned the status of a civilization which has displayed hostile behavior toward Harmonia members. The meetings are informational in nature. No voting is involved, more in the scope of ‘News from around the Great Expanse’.

This is right up her alley.

“I can’t begin to describe Harmonia, Roy.” The former KHST Houston television anchor and recent/current press secretary for NASA was born to the bigtime. Not that every representative on the Mars-based community is experienced in media relations; look no further than Skaldic the Null and Snoof, from a world of three-eyed humanoids. “It is nothing short of providential.”

“Is Lorgan the physical embodiment of the God we worship? If he is, then that image of a grandfatherly-like deity with a white beard is totally out-the-window.”

“If a shiny silver ball is God, what would symbolize Jesus Christ?”

“How about that lighthouse?” Roy poses.

“Wow that fits right in with the Bible.”

“Gus did imply that Mars looked like what the Garden of Eden was supposed to look like.”

Francine sees the comparisons, but is not convinced that this sequence of events equates to the creation story in Genesis.

“I think we are ‘getting out over our skis here. If an Old Testament prophet were around to see what’s going on he would say, ‘I have seen Heaven and I have seen Mars and Mars is no heaven!’.”

“You’re right, but you have to admit that the parallels are uncanny.”

“In that case, the alien invasion {that vanished} must be lost in the fiery lake.”

That statement is uncanny.
