Constance Caraway P.I. ~ Episode 211

Constance Caraway Private Investigation is calling the number that Agent Daniels left with her – just in case…

The one wildcard in this latest scheme to chase Satan back into his fiery hole continues to be his former deputy-devil-turned-Libbyite Cephus/ Agent Daniels. If Constance Caraway is a prickly thorn in the devil’s foot, this uncovered CIA mole would be a spear, prowling, lurking, and seeking to pierce without warning.

Pentateuch absolutely despises the very type of individual that he is himself: silent, devious, ruthless.

Cephus may be watching and Pentateuch would not know it.

Penty hates being unawares. —

Anolis grahami

— Even government operatives get vacation time and Agent Daniels has slipped off to Jamaica for some well-deserved rest, after he had confirmed that the inspectors of the Blue Ridge Angel were nothing more than phony-baloney nondescript, albeit willing government saboteurs.

“Jesse James,” the telephone speaks in his open-air room at the Silver Seas Resort.

“Wow, a real name to go with a real voice!” The founder and collective soul of Constance Caraway Investigation is calling the number that he left with her – just in case.

“Get out of here you pesky critter!”

“Excuse me,” she is surprised by the apparent rebuke.

“Sorry Constance, I wasn’t talking at you. I have a couple of House Geckos who insist on darting around whenever I’m about to use the shower; they seem to prefer domestic water over island water. Too bad they have no natural predators to worry about. I may need to toss them into the Caribbean.” He means business, but eschews real killing. “What has our two-legged lizard been up to?”

“Well, that’s just it, we have come upon some new information and in addition, Graham is returning to Chicago on the 28th for a baseball stadium meeting. I’m thinking that Penty has caught wind of this… you do remember what happened last month?”

“What information are we talking about?”

“It seems that Ace & I have acquired detailed, ancient instructions on how to put this sneaky bastard in his place. I happen to think that you may be the man who can carry out those instructions.”

No audible response – he had been enjoying himself for the first time in (xx) years.

“And there will be a little extra in your paycheck next month.” P.I.s will tell little-white-lies to get results.

“If you have either the authority to A: give me a raise or B: put Pentateuch out of business, I will be impressed,” he cannot resist the chance to deal a setback to his longtime notable nemesis. “I’ve got a few days left before I have to get back to work.”

“Can you read any ancient languages?”

“Among other modern tongues, Latin – Hebrew – Greek – Aramaic…”

“Yeah, the last one… wait ‘til you see what fell into our laps on OUR spring vacation.”

“That is the dominant language of 1st Century A.D. you know, Jesus-speak, but not too common these days.”

He will soon be reaching back into history to help reconstitute a divine formula for demonic eradication.

Constance Caraway P.I. ~ Episode 209

…Billy Graham and Samuel Goldwyn are talking about life and  other matters…

Billy Graham and Samuel Goldwyn are talking about life, its meaning and other matters on the bus trip back to Chicago. Sam is of the Jewish persuasion, albeit the non-practicing flavor, but like many of the crusade attendees, he has repeatedly heard the messages and cannot help having serious questions about the potential role of faith in his life. But it’s not only Judaism that haunts him. He can still hear his Grandfather speak of their centuries struggle against the Muslim world, right up to 1947 and when Israel was granted the promised homeland.

Much of the root confusion arises from the birthright of Abraham’s two sons, by different mothers; Abraham being the patriarch of the line of David.

“Why do Muslims claim that it was Hagar’s son, Ishmael, whom God spared from being sacrificed?” Young Goldwyn knows just enough scripture to be dangerous.

“… because it allows them to claim our God as their own. You see, sometime after Christ died on the cross, they changed the story in their holy book, the Koran, to fit their needs. But these same errant editors insist that their prophet Mohammed is like a god, which is pure hogwash. Mohammed has been allowed to write his own sacred manuscript to be passed off as divine. It is fiction by the strictest measure.

“In the real historical account, as transcribed by the apostles, our great God provided a 100 year old man with a son, by his wife of 90, a miracle that triumphed over the despair of barrenness. God ordered, ‘And you will call him Isaac’. So when He instructed Abraham to sacrifice his precious son on an altar, he was obedient. That obedience was proof of the man’s faithfulness and Isaac was spared; not Ishmael who has Egyptian blood and born of a concubine.”

“And I used to think that the Bible was just another book.”

Goldwyn sees the light.

…Now back to the regularly scheduled narrative…

Switchboard

Billy Graham Telephone Prayer Switchboard

On Tuesday March 13th 1951 the Billy Graham Telephone Prayer Switchboard is lit up like a Christmas tree. Partially due to the powerful message delivered and the foresight of young Goldwyn, compassionate operators have been made available, to dispense encouraging words for thee distinct types of people:

  1. Their power went out, hence no alarm and late for work
  2. Post crusade indigestion brought on by anxiety caused by awful dreams
  3. The objectionable combination of raucous kids and rebellious pets or rebellious kids and raucous pets.

And believe it or not, those are the lucky ones of whom were at one of the first two events (Sat.-Sun.).

butFor many who attended the Monday night Crusade, a rousing success can be claimed by all accounts; but…

…But the car ride

…But the bus trip

…But the airplane flight home

…No buts about it… were a disaster.

Related imageStarting as cold rain, leading to freezing fog morphing into freezing rain, weather related accidents, injuries and even deaths are directly attributed to the hazardous driving. Electric trolley lines are snapped by the weight of the ice. Public transit buses crawl along at a snail’s pace. The two major airports are shuttered until the warmth of the morning sun can melt away the hoarfrost.

But God does not abandon His faithful children. Once upon a similar midnight weary, on the heels of the Devil’s dark dare, He (God) took everything away from his faithful servant Job, to test Job’s faith and resolve. And only after Job had lost his possessions, his family, his health (without renouncing his faith in God), was that Royal Wager won and Job’s life was restored; all those blessings and a thousand times more.

As will He restore these recently converted and very inconvenienced in the “Town Without Pity”.

And to be sure, any blow dealt to Pentateuch will be swift and the accompanying drop precipitous.

…Like an uncoordinated symphony conductor, the Dark One sends out his legions, for his version of midnight madness…

Unwilling to take this whole revival thing sitting down, Pentateuch has arranged for a not-so-special reward for anyone attending the Graham meetings. His has amassed every available demonic spirit for the purpose of polluting any feel-good images that they have taken home with them.

  • Traffic tie-ups for travelers w/flash freezing fog to make roadways impassable
  • Grotesque nightmares for those newly inspired dreamers, the ones able to fall asleep
  • Misbehaving pets and children to greet them – diversionary domestic derailleur(s)
  • Grumbling religious doubters at every turn, stealing the joy from their mass evangelical experience
  • Widespread machine malfunctions: fridges, stoves, laundry rebelling at every attempted use

Like an uncoordinated symphony conductor, the Dark One sends out his legions, for his version of midnight madness.

And not everyone receives the same exact mischief.

Some, like the Libbyites, are spared any logistic inconvenience on the way home that night, but not the subconscious discord.

There are the already irretrievably lost, those who have unwittingly subscribed to Satan’s temptations with no enhancement necessary.

Satans Place-001

In fact, the next day, a city wide blackout results from a balky Commonwealth Edison power grid; shared funkiness for the rest of Chicagoland.

But Pentateuch is allowed but a brief 24 hours, one day to do his best damage, allowed being the keyword.  Divine intervention will cap the harm at a mischievously low level.

…Pentateuch has been crossed and triple-crossed, with a double cherry on top…

There can be heard a mighty roar from out the Lake of Fire, the whole Earth growlsRed from within.

What could trigger such a geophysical belch? “WILLARD LIBBY IS ALIVE!” not a rejoicing regurgitation from Pentateuch.

Since, from the earliest reports at Elgin State Hospital, when he learned of Willard Libby’s unintended, but accepted death, the Dark One has been kept in the dark. There is not a sorer loser, on Earth or below, that exists. It may be, that the short phrase ‘seeing red’, was coined in 1951.

Suddenly Forever Mastadon and World Agnostica Unlimited are rendered meaningless. All the earthly co conspirators, like the Justice Department a.k.a. the FBI, Canisso and his thugs, McGraw-Hill Publishing, L. Dick Cannon or the newest saboteurs from the CAA, they all can go their merry way, quite possibly reuniting in hell.

“Losers be damned every one of them! I’ve been duped by Cephus, whom I trusted, and a female weakling with her ragamuffin mercenaries. I knew there had to be a reason she was putting her friends in front of me, ripe for peril. WILLARD LIBBY IS ALIVE & SO IS THAT MISERABLE MARTIN KAMEN!”

And though he never truly thought that Cephus(Daniels) had perished in the Argonne fire, he could never focus on the man’s countenance enough to be sure. Even the chief demon has a fatal flaw.

The fact is: He has been crossed and triple-crossed, with a cherry on top.

betrayed

With hands lifted out, gyrating with his greatest urgency, the Dark Deceiver summons the worst of his fallen angels to come to battle. No more mister nice guy or withholding his ire about a situation from which he has lost a grip.

A war is erupting, with The Chicago Stadium as the Holy Battlefield.

…My dad was told that he couldn’t make a movie about lesbians, so he said, ‘That’s alright, we’ll call them Hungarians’…

… Oops. Young Samuel Goldwyn has accidentally stepped into tabooed doo doo.Image result for misquoted

Connie’s face turns robust shade of crimson.

“Hey, I misquote the Bible all the time,” Billy fortuitously rushes past those misplaced sexual references. “Say, if you are looking for outside work, I have been thinking about recording my Chicago Crusade, in case you would be interested.”

“I could hang around town for a while, if it is worth my while,” Goldwyn the younger speculates about his near future. “I could edit my footage for the air travel documentary here in Chicago instead of going back to California.”

“May I suggest that I relinquish my rights for anything you film at our meetings, you know, all those intensely personal stories about folks from all walks of life getting saved? It is some powerful theater.”

“My father has a screenplay about a traveling tent preacher, Elmer Gantry I believe; maybe we can take something away from it, work together on a picture down the road.”

“Sounds great, but I’ve got to get back to my people, Samuel. Samuel — that is a great name, 1st & 2nd in the Old Testament.” Pastors cannot help but tie everyday things into the Bible. Graham hands the conversation back, “You can reach me through Miss Caraway.”

“The way things come together these days is the cat’s meow… we travel by air and talk over the telephone, just like that,” like the snap of her fingers, Constance comments on how things can form a network so quickly these days.

“The cat’s meow, the cat’s pajamas whatever, this cat is making Chicago home for a month.”

“You better bring your new wife out or you won’t be married for long.”Get It Right

“Good point, Cassie, I will ring up Jennifer from the terminal.”

“It’s Connie and if you don’t start getting my name right, you won’t live to see tomorrow!”

Libbyites-001“Look, I’m taking notes,” he scribbles away quickly. “We have Constance Caraway and Ace Bannion, Rev. Billy and who…?”

“… and Fanny Renwick, Worth Moore, Martin Kamen, Eddie & Edie Dombroski, Jesse James and the star of the show, Willard Libby, over there with blood running down his temple. Got it Goldwyn?”

“I have a feeling that I will be meeting the rest of these folks soon,” Samuel’s mother had little to do with his rearing, so there is an adjustment period with a dominant female like Constance, “and remind me not to ruffle your feathers.”

There is a preponderance of high achievers gathering in Chicago.  You could call it just a coincidental confluence of concerned citizens, but you would be wrong.

There are no coincidences under the loving umbrella of God and there exists but one rainmaker capable of arranging for these dramatis personae, in this place, at this time.

Constance Caraway P.I. ~ Episode 180

… P.I. Caraway and Hollywood Goldwyn have hijacked a baggage tow and sprinted through the muddy grass to the crippled plane…

After the smoke clears from around the 27,393 pounds of steel and aluminum, loaded with Crusade props and Jesus freaks, pilot Ace and the other everything are still in one piece. His copilot is passed out and the navigator is face down on the cockpit deck, so he climbs over debris to check on his human cargo.  He finds the good Reverend is already checking on everyone, as is the registered nurse who is in the crusades’ employ.

Happy

The newest member of the revival staff, Willard Libby gives Billy a wave, unable to shake the thought that he brought the trouble with him, like the other improbable events over the past 4 months.

And other than a few loose wits and several severed nerves, the truly injured have but minor issues, none life-threatening.

“Normally I consider applause as inappropriate, but this ain’t Sunday and we ain’t in church!” He raises his hands to God in praise and directs the passengers in very appropriate hand-to-hand (raucous) appreciation.

The ever modest Ace takes a bow while opening the boarding door. There are airport bowpersonnel down on the ground, but they have no way of off-loading the people, seeing they are nosed out into a city street. They need to wait for the ambulances and shuttle buses to make their way, down 63rd Street, then up Central to nearly 55th.

One face, in the concerned throng below, is a familiar one; Constance Caraway is there with arms weighed down by blankets for those in need, but her spirits lifted high by answered prayer. She and Samuel Goldwyn the junior have hijacked a baggage tow and sprinted through the muddy grass to the crippled plane. The neophyte film producer has captured the entire calamity on film and now sets up his equipment for the aftermath.

She is among the first up the stair/ramp when it is placed roughly against the tilted fuselage, protocol be damned, “Excuse me, can I get through with these blankets?”

“You heard the lady,” Captain Bannion is coordinating the unloading of Crusade people, each according to their ambulatory status. At second blush, there are more serious injuries than previously reported, most likely because, to a man and woman, were plain grateful to have survived at all; never mind that sore shoulder or stiff leg.
