…In a fashion, much like the members of the ancient NEWFOUNDLANDER crew, the Defender makes off with valuable Earth treasure…

Sampson & Son have not seen the Heinlein’s Green Hills of Earth for a very long time. Cruising handily past 6 planetary orbits and beneath a crescent moon, the alien spacecraft named Defender silently glides down next to the homestead both men have been longing to see. For Sam it has been 24 years, for Deke, his 4 years seems like an eternity.

Aside from remodeling, updating and a brand-new barn, locating Cerella and Joyner was relatively easy. To avoid from alarming Roy, Francine, Gus, Mindy and Marscie is priority one. Doing so would unnecessarily complicate the operation by upsetting Earth’s timestem, as well as the King Ranch equilibrium.

Deke McKinney barely recognizes his earthen-ized mate, who he suspects had suspected such a mission would come to pass, even after her parapsychological ties were severed by the birth of their son. She had told Joyner many stories of his father and the planet from which they came, seeing that the worlds are as opposite as opposite can be.

As Deke hugs him for the first time, Cerella explains to the child, who is sprouting like a weed, “There will be time to acquaint after we return to Eridanus. Remember your experience here with fondness, my son. The emotional ties of these people is strong, to be treasured for all time.”

Sam has wandered off to the west wing to have a gander at his other grandchild. How could he resist the temptation? It takes every ounce of his strength not to wake Gus’s sleeping Marscie. He cannot help but lament the circumstances that caused the Space Family McKinney to be separated by trillions of miles, not just another wing of the sprawling ranch home, but he does.

In a fashion, much like the members of the ancient NEWFOUNDLANDER crew, the Defender makes off with valuable Earth treasure, this time in the form of living creatures. However, on this occasion, the aliens leave behind a calling card, in the form of Celeste McKinney’s love/”kidnapping” note, discovered by Francine Bouchette-Crippen, on the island counter in the main kitchen at King Ranch, in Waller County Texas USA. She is up early to make breakfast. There will be two less place settings on this most melancholy of mornings.

THE RETURN TRIP – Episode 125

…Where are Gus and Deke headed now, or are you going to tell me they are dead, which caused Braden to have a coronary

Burning the Midnight Oil by Mick Dean

After Roger Rodrigues drops his passenger off at the Montego Bay airport, Roy is off and running across the tarmac to the hanger that houses his waiting Sikorsky, without waiting for that occasional luggage ferry. After pat-down customs check and a quick systems run-through, he is towed into open space and cleared for takeoff. At about 300 feet the fuselage turns toward a west-by-northwest direction and rising, coming to 180 MPH cruise speed posthaste.

Sikorsky S-92

After an hour of thinking that someone forgot to pay his satellite bill, his NASA device comes to life, this time with a face other than the Communication Director.

“Are you there Roy?” asks the new voice.

“I was wondering what was going on. Am I on the pay-no-mind-list or what?”

Silence… For the third time silence…”Braden King was taken to the GLC infirmary, he passed out cold.”

“I could tell he was struggling with something, but he is fit for a sixty-year-old.”

“He had a reason for dropping on & off…the McKinney boys were taken 65 minutes ago……….”

“Don’t tell me, by a f***ing Mi-38 Hind?”

“Oh so you knew?”

“A lucky guess. It seems to me that there is a base of those beggars, probably in one of those drug-states across the Rio Grande.” Roy thinks out loud, Where are Gus and Deke headed now, or are you going to tell me they are dead, which caused Braden to have a coronary?”

“They were flown out into the Gulf of The Americas and were apparently put on a boat or a drilling platform.”

“Which is it?”

“We aren’t sure, with all the fuss about that Samiq Gaad episode going on, we were distracted.”

“For God’s sake why can’t we defend our own territory anymore? I think we need a change in the White House... you did not hear me say that, or the fact that President Sanchez is too cozy with the country of his father & mother!”

Pedro “Pete” Sanchez is the first United States citizen {President} whose parents are not. The Hispanic majority had finally got its wish.

“I am going to buzz every oil rig from Cuba to Texas and you are going to let me know if Braden takes a turn.”

“Yes Sir.”

Constance Caraway P.I. ~ Episode 32

…“Who says we’re not working for ourselves, isn’t that right, Bing Crosby…

“Do you know who you’ve kidnapped?” a shrewd Fanny asks.

The two men in the front seat seem not to care who she is.

“Some wacky redhead?” guesses number one thug. “Are you packin’ heat.?”

“Maybe and My name is Mary Pickford.”

“Eating at a White Castle, right… And we’re movie stars too,” cracks brute number two.

Obviously the men, who have taken Fanny, are just following orders. Maybe she can play them.

“I know the name of your boss.”

“Who says we’re not working for ourselves, isn’t that right, Bing Crosby?”

“That’s right, Gene Kelly,” says the driver.

“You guys are Hi-larious,” she answers back.

“Who are we working for Miss Pickford, I mean Miss Caraway?” they taunt.

They’ve got the wrong girl, but Fanny strings them along, needing to make her response count, while trying to recall a name she picked up on three hours ago at Tolentine, “Vincent, yes you are associates of Mr. Vincent.”

They look at each with vacated expressions.

“Cat got your tongue?”

Again there is stunned silence.

“My people are coming for me.”

“Do we look worried Miss Caraway?”

She shows them her Visitors badge, stuck to her sweater. It reads “Renwick”.

“This ain’t the Caraway broad, stupid!”

The black Cadillac pulls up to the first telephone booth they see. “Bing” drops in a single dime, confirming that it is indeed a local call. His demonstrative actions indicate frustration. He returns to the passenger side telling his mate, “O’Malley’s Garage on Western,” turning to their snatch, “tell us what you did with the bag, whoever you are.”

“You guys don’t have a clue, do you?” She can play dumb too.

“The briefcase you took from the convent, Red, where is it?”

She holds out her empty and bound hands.

“Stop the car.”

Better listen to him Bing. You and Mr. Kelly are in way over your heads. The coppers will be looking for you.”

“Get out, now! You ain’t worth the trouble.”

Fanny is unceremoniously kicked to the curb

Crosby blares at Kelly, “We grabbed the wrong dame!

“If you wanted to kidnap someone, what would you use?” she asked Amit. They were lying in bed, with the lights off. To knock them unconscious. So that you could drag them into the back of your van.”
Chloroform, I guess.”
Really?” She brightened. It made her happy that the person she was marrying would commit crimes in the same way as she would.”
